Posting Instructions
Short Version:
Login
Click ‘Add New’ button
Fill in title
Add your news item article in the main wysiwyg box
If it is an event – select the date of the event
Select the categories on the right (not both ‘Home Page News’ AND ‘Events’ – one or the other only please)
Add thumbnail image (a square shaped image will appear better)
Click the blue ‘Publish’ button.

Login from the website using the ‘Sign in’ link in the header on the left OR at
www.hazelgroveweb.co.uk/wp-admin
Once signed in you can click the ‘Add New’ button at the top to add a new article.
Enter your title in the box indicated – use capital letters at the beginning of each word.
Then add your news text in the main box. You can use the wysiwyg (what you see is what you get) buttons to change the font, size and colour of the text.
To add a link – select the text you want the link to be on and then click the button that looks like a chain link to add the full website address including the http:// – You must enter the FULL url. Please also ALWAYS tick the box that says ‘Open link in a new window/tab’.
You can add images within your article by clicking your curser in the main box where you want the picture to go and then clicking the ‘Add Media’ button – then follow the instructions to upload the picture from your computer.
Select which categories you would like the news article to appear in. It’s best to select either the ‘Home Page News’ category OR the ‘Events’ category plus others that are available and might be appropriate. NOTE: please do not select both the ‘Events’ AND the ‘Home Page News’ categories – one or the other. You may select any other categories available as well.
‘Home Page News’ category will display your article under ‘News’ on the Home page AND on the ‘News’ page.
‘Events’ category normally displays your article under ‘Events’ on the Home Page AND on the ‘Events’ page – but please note all events are in date order so some may not appear on the home page.
Other categories will display your article in the right sidebar of the respective page.
If your post is an event, please fill in the date of the event in the box below your article text and also select the ‘Events’ category on the right. — DO NOT select the Home Page News Category AND the Events category – it must be one or the other. — but you may also select a news sub-category with your event post.
If you have an image select the ‘set thumbnail image’ bottom right. A square – ish image will look best. Don’t worry if you don’t have an image, just leave it and the system will select a default image to use.
Then you can click the blue ‘Publish’ button near the top on the right. Wait for the article to update before moving on.
If you click ‘Posts’ in the left sidebar, you will see a list of the posts you have written. If you hover your mouse just below one of the article titles you can see you can click the ‘edit’ button to update the article. You can also delete the article by clicking ‘Trash’. Please note there is no way to recover an article after it has been trashed.
