Read Regional 2019 – Talk at Hazel Grove Library on 11th June

From March to June each year, the annual Read Regional campaign celebrates selected new books from the North of England. At libraries and literary festivals across the North, authors take part in events where you can hear about their writing and talk to them about their work.
Stockport Libraries are hosting a number of events as part of the Read Regional Campaign and one of these is at Hazel Grove Library on Tuesday 11th June with Amy Arnold and Jennifer Nansubuga Makumbi
Amy Arnold will be talking about her debut novel Slip of a fish
Amy was born in Oxford in 1974. She studied Neuropsychology at Birmingham University and has worked in a variety of jobs from packing swedes to teaching and lecturing. She lives in Cumbria, and in 2018 was awarded the inaugural Northern Book Prize for her debut novel, Slip of a Fish.
Jennifer Nansubuga Makumbi, a Ugandan novelist and short story writer, has a PhD from Lancaster University. Her first novel, Kintu, won the Kwani? Manuscript Project in 2013 and was longlisted for the Etisalat Prize in 2014. Her story ‘Let’s Tell This Story Properly’ won the 2014 Commonwealth Short Story Prize. She lives in Manchester with her husband, Damian, and her son, Jordan.
