Libraries Update

Stay Home Save Lives

We’ve changed our services in order to keep you and our staff as safe as possible during lockdown. You must only come to the library if you have an appointment time for either a PC or a book collection.

Important: If you or any member of your household has or is displaying symptoms of the coronavirus, you must not visit our libraries.

In the first instance please consider whether your visit is essential at this time. You can access a wide selection of books, magazines and newspapers and renew your current books online:

visit our online resources page

view the e-books and audio books and download the Borrowbox app

renew your books online by logging in to your account

Our Home Library Service is also still available for registered users.

You must only visit the library if you have an appointment time for either a PC or a book collection.

Government guidelines state that PCs sessions must be for essential activities only for residents who do not have access at home. Examples include school work, benefits applications, seeking advice or support and job hunting. PCs must be booked in advance. Staff will ask you the reason for your booking.

If you prefer to read physical books for your own health and wellbeing you can order and collect . We are going to be issuing larger book bundles during lockdown, so that you can visit as few times as possible. You can reserve books on our system and when your bundle is ready we will contact you to arrange a time for you to collect your books from the Library foyer. You will not be able to browse for books in the library.

Please go to https://www.stockport.gov.uk/library-closures-coronavirus or ring 0161 217 6009 for more information.
