Update: A555 Road Open
By Editor Girl on Mar 18, 2019
The A555 is now open to all traffic after reopening at around 10pm last night. The road was closed due to flooding in Bramhall on Saturday afternoon after a months worth of rain fell in Greater Manchester. The road was described as being like a “swimming pool”.
Stockport Council report that two of the faulty pumps have been repaired and an additional pump brought in to assist with removing the water. It’s estimated that approximately 3 million litres of water were pumped from the road in order to re-open.
The closure led to delays and more congestion on other local roads on Monday morning.
Poynton Fire Station also report on their facebook page that they were called out over the weekend to rescue a man stuck in his car in the flood water after ignoring the road closure signs.
