School admissions: applications for Year 7 and Reception places for September 2025

Stockport school applications are now open for children starting Reception and Year 7 in September 2025.  School places aren’t given on a first-come, first-served basis, so take your time to review the guides and visit schools before applying.

Important dates:

• Year 7: Apply by 31 October 2024
• Reception: Apply by 15 January 2025

Remember to:

• Use all six preferences.
• Consider including your catchment school to avoid being allocated a distant one.
• Note the deadlines to avoid late submissions.
• Remember, if your child is going through the Education, Health and Care needs assessment process and does not yet have a finalised EHC Plan, you should still apply for a Year 7 place by the deadline.
• Keep an eye out for high schools holding open evenings in the next few weeks.
